Writerly Wednesday ~~ Flower Power Contest!

Hope your mid-week is going well, blog friends. Are you meeting your deadlines, working toward your goals, polishing your WiPs?

When I want a break from revising my ms, reading submissions for Rose and Thorn Journal or whatever is taking up the majority of my time, I'll sometimes get out my camera and click away. It's nice to have a hobby that lets you refocus or change your perspective. The photos below are some I've taken recently.

If you're stalled out and need a little diversion, here ya go --
a short & sweet contest to get your creative juices flowing!

CONTEST RULES:

1.) Look at the numbered photos below and pick the one that best represents you.

2.) In 20 words or less left in a comment, explain why.

3.) Leave your email address in the comment if you don't have one connected to your I.D. so I have some way to contact you should you win a prize.

4.) We'll see how the contestant numbers stack up, and decide on how many winners based on that. The prizes will also be a surprise...but if you're a writer, you'll be happy.

Now..."pick a flower" and tell us how the two of your are alike.

(1.)

(2.)

(3.)

(4.)

(5.)

(6.)

(Sunflower) I'm focused, know what I want, yet a little dark and doubtful around the edges. But sometimes my mind gets foggy.

I'm a sunflower. There is still enough youth and fun left in me that my head follows the sun. Only the old sunflowers get stuck in position. Those with enough flexibility follow the rise of the sun from dusk to dawn each and every day. I hope in my later years I will be the rose. I guess I will have to live with the fact that I may always have a thorn.

I'm No. 1, the cacti.

My words are often biting and I bloat up although it's getting harder and harder to hold water.

I'm definitely #5.

Very present, but a little fuzzy.

A rose, my veiled layers unfold under the sun and I blossom, releasing a cinnamon scent.

Rose. As a child, all pictures show me with two round spots of rosy cheeks. Keep feelings hidden under layers.

Number 5 is me.

Blurry at times for who or what I am to be, but attracting what is good and spreading love back out.

A little wilted right now, but hoping for some sunshine to perk me back up.

5) Without my glasses everything is blurry and beautiful. Also the photo has a bee in it which is my name.

1) Cactus, without a doubt.

I protect myself with sharp thorns, but in the right company, and with enough nurturing, I will blossom.

#4 right now. Wilted and in need of refreshment!

#6. I love being a little quirky and free. Love surprises.

(Isn't it funny no one has taken the stately, beautiful roses?) Hmmmm, I smell a story here....

#3, because it just looks happy to me.

#1. I'm prickly and kinda wrinkled but occasionally, with the help of the Spirit, have a bloom so amazing, you know a miracle occurred. And for me to show Christ, IT DID!!!

Like a risen Savior!!

Will be curtailing my blog visits till 11/15. SO HOPE you can stop by and breathe a little life into my writing cave. Two deadlines have forced this!!!

Thanks for providing such camaraderie.
Blessings,
Patti

A search for a clear focus that brings a clarity out of the fuzz. A shallowness with depth that is not seen. The softness of the fuzzy petals but a sting of a bee. Basically not to clear about self.

I don't know that I'm like this flower but I love #3 because it's purple and blushing and clean. It's all open to happy--and I like that.

I'm #4 - I'm in the garden but never near the other plants.

Just wanted to say how much I love the pictures. I could make a case for being like all of them, depending on the day and mood. :-)
