Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?

"Table for one, monsieur?"

That's my bad bad Boston Terrier asleep on the patio table. He's 7 1/2 months old and in need of obedience school, but he's beaucoup fun to have around. Let's just say he fits into the family well. 'Nuff said.

Seeing him sprawled on the tabletop asleep like this yesterday brought to mind a question for Monday's useless trivia/brain food/brain teaser topic:

If you could dine with anyone (dead, alive or even a fictional character), who would you choose? And, hey, dinner's on me, so knock yourself out. *grin*

Hope your week is productive and without an ounce of stress!

Jane Austen. I'd love to meet the women behind so many wonderful Classics.

May you have a stress-free week as well! And loved the pic. Someone is very comfortable in his home. Great to see.

God.
Seriously.

I mean, hell...imagine the conversation.

Wait. Did I say hell? Uh...

How you went from seeing your dog asleep on the table to the question is freaking hilarious. I love the way your warped mind thinks.

Since I got spanked last time for giving more than one answer, I'll play by the rules (there's a first time for everything!). I'm going to have to say Stevie Nicks. She's my musical idol and mentor. Second choice would be... (Geez, just kidding! Relax!!!).

What a great pic! Dinner with anyone? The Queen of England in one of her castles!

you know. Don't you???

Steve.

My mom. Not only was she loved and cherished by me as a wonderful mom, but she was also my best friend.

LOL. Too funny. My cat Squeaky likes to sleep in the chairs around the dinette table. Every now and then she'll just be sitting there looking at the table like "I'm ready for my salmon now, sir!"

Galadriel from Lord of the Rings.

Thanks, Eileen.

For shame, Braja. :)

Schube: It's the wonky writer's mind that connects seemingly strange things. LOL. If you ate with Stevie, y'all could do a duet!

Jody and the Queen Mum. Now that would be an ineresting evening. :)

VM: Steve Martin? hehe

That would be a special meal together, Donna!

Scott: Would Squeaky attend your dinner with Galadriel? :)

Before my sons came along, I had a very early-term miscarriage. That child would would have been 24 now. I'd love to know who he or she might have become.

JESUS! No question! Second Mother Theresa!

Julie Child of course. I'd love to cook with her because I'd be laughing my ass off at her voice and antics. Then we'd sit down and share a meal. I'd want to hear about her time as a spy and would like to know her favorite thing to eat.

I have to go with Jesus. Hopefully someday that one will take place:)
Love your picture--he is a cutie!

Angie Ledbetter said...

Sending you hugs and more hugs, Hilary.

Carol, what good choices. :)

The Peach Tart: I bet you're chomping at the bit for that new movie to come out. :) Thanks for visiting. Coming your way shortly.

Thanks, Terri. I'd wish the same, but I'd probably be a real disappointing dinner companion. :)

Let's see...if I could dine with anyone? Would they be doing the cooking? Because I'm thinking a professional chef! Or maybe a literary agent who could help me get published...

Melissa Amateis said...

Dinner with anyone? Well, Daniel Craig, of course. :-)

I'm not even a dog person (don't hate me) but that is a seriously cute pooch.
And the dinner question always makes me nervous. I can pick a party - but not just one.

If I could have dinner with my dad I would. I would tell him that I think about him whenever I watch my son play the piano, because Kyle reminds me of how he looked when he played his trumpet.

Stephanie, you're in your favorite restaurant, so go for the agent! :)

I knew you'd pick him, Melissa. *grin*

Debbie, go ahead and pick a crowd. Just be sure to include me. :)

Awesome pick, Cheffie.

Carrie: I'd be worried what to wear? Scrubs or sari?! :)

That is one adorable pup, Angie. The dinner companion of my dreams would be about 6 ft. tall, good looking, jet black hair, with muscles, a great dancer, with an unlimited expense account. If you know anyone that fits this description, please send them my way. lol

Scott said...

Angie - Squeaky's a cat . . . what do you think?? That's right, if she feels like it, she'd attend the dinner, if not . . . well, like I said, she's a cat. : )

S

p.s. you've never been truly ignored until you've been ignored by a cat . . . trust me on that one.

Angie Ledbetter said...

Marguerite: I don't know anybody by that description...but if you find him, lemme know if he's got a wealthy old grandfather in need of a maid/cook. :)

That, Scott, is exactly why I don't "do" fur balls! ewwwwwww LOL

Hi Angie- gee, you always ask such good questions. I really want to say two people... my dad- love you, daddy- and Louisa May Alcott. She wrote my fav book, Little Women...

Jesus is the first one who comes to mind, but I bet his table manners are impeccable and I'd be on edge all the time about using the correct fork. Maybe Mark Twain, instead.

Terrier, it's what's for dinner. ;-) Awwwww, what a sweetie.

I'd love to have dinner with my parents one more time, they died a few years ago.

On famous people, Kathryn Hepburn. Definitely.

thank you for that wish, and my invitee would have to be the Good Lord himself!

Garrison Keillor, at the diner in Lake Woebegone. The one that serves rhubarb pie.

Loved the picture of the dog.

Angie Ledbetter said...

Red Bird, wouldn't it be cool to dine with your favorite book's author? Me and Harper Lee would surely have a great time!

I had the same thought. Maybe we could have unleavened bread, Suldawg...not to sound sacreligious or anything. :)

LOL, Rebecca! I used that same line in my post title for tomorrow.

lizspin, we'll have to rent a private room if we all try to dine with Him at the same time. :) Would be fun, though.

Dorothy: Gonna have to look up that series.

Char: do you listen to him on The Writer's Almanac? Fabulous. (It's in my Rockin' Blog list if you wanna give it a try.)

That dog's quite a character. That table doesn't look particularly comfortable.

I'd like to eat dinner with my husband in Paris again.

Angie Ledbetter said...

Elizabeth, I thought the same thing. I guess he doesn't mind being uncomfortable as long as he can watch us in the living room.

Oh, Paris!

This will sound nuts. I know. In my past, I've hurt some people. I would like to dine with them. My treat, of course.

Angie Ledbetter said...

Boomer, I think that is beyond beautiful. I hope you get that dinner party together.

Jinksy said...

Angie, it would have to be you - though I'd hope you'd clear the table first! xxx

Deb Shucka said...

How did that dog get up there? Too cute.

It's hard to choose one dining partner. I think Kate Braestrup.

Actually, wouldn't it be great to have a dinner with all of us blogging buddies?
