Head & Eye Candy

For those who think they know it all, more useless trivia to fill your cranium:

  • The liquid inside young coconuts can be used as a substitute for Blood plasma.
  • No piece of paper can be folded in half More than seven (7) times.
  • Oak trees do not produce acorns until they are twenty (20) years or older.
  • The King of Hearts is the only king without a mustache.
  • American Airlines saved $40,000 in 1987 by eliminating one (1) olive from each salad served in first-class.
  • Venus is the only planet that rotates clockwise.
  • It is possible to lead a cow upstairs...but not downstairs.
  • And the best for last...turtles can breathe through their butts.

{Thanks for the forward, Stumpy!}

Now you really do know it all. No need to thank me! *grin*

As for the eye candy, I've been nominated for a bloggy award by friend Barbara at The Serenity Gate (a really handsome blog). It's called, "Real People, Real Blogs," and as I understand it, it's given to bloggers who keep their posts real. Thanks for the nom, Barbara!

The rules say: *Please put the logo in your blog *Place a link from the person whom you received the award *Nominate at least 7 others *Put the links of those on your blog *Leave a message on their blog to let them know they've been nominated.

So, in compliance with the rules (yes, I can follow 'em sometimes), and so I can now proudly display the keepin' in real award, I'm nominating the following blogs, so congratulations, y'all:

Travis Erwin, unruly writer guy

Amy Sue Nathan, a true hoot of a friend (and a dang good writer)

Carrie Wilson Link, always good for some huggage

The Surly Writer, Michelle Hickman

Kathryn who howls from her mountain

That ol' bad boy, Suldog who writes some of the best posts ever

And Jenny James, a giddy writer friend and mom of six.

The turtle respiration note is pretty cool. Folding the paper will keep a teenager busy for a long time.
Have a great week.

I am always gratified to get another award I don't deserve in the least. Thank you!

(I'll get to following the rules, by posting the award, etc., in a couple of days.)

My kids will LOVE the turtle butt trivia. Thanks!

Now all I'll think about today is the turtle-butt thing. It makes me wonder whether (through their mouths) turtles can... never mind. I don't want to know.

Thank you kindly for the award! You definitely deserve it. I think the jury is still out on whether I do! Yet I am grateful - nonetheless.

I love the trivia bits! My mind is trying to wrap itself around the "no paper can be folded in half more than 7 times." Boggling!

Ms. B1tch is tired tired tired...(and very hungry said...

Yes, there are ways and sneaky ones too that restaurants save money - for example: taking a big plump juicy scallop and slicing it in half - so they get two for the price of one! ha!

Paying staff horridly is another way - harumph!

Thanks for the award. It will probably be a week or so before post mine.

Amy, not even YOU are that good a fiction writer. hehe

You're doing a fine job, Carrie!

Kimmie, hope I didn't ruin your turtle collection or something. LOL

Angie Ledbetter said...

You're welcome, Wendy.

Michelle, LOL, and you're welcome.

That factoid made me want to get paper out and disprove it too, Melissa!

Ms. B, I guess that's why I don't eat out too often. :)

Angie Ledbetter said...

Any time, Travis.

'Preciate you, Terri. Congrats on same award for you!

That's a fascinating factoid about turtles. I've met some people who have the same talent. Especially after beans.

What I'd like to know is how to get an oak tree to STOP producing acorns... but that coconut milk thing could be helpful.

The king of hearts also stabs himself in the head, I believe, which is a little weird.

BTW, I have promising it a long time, but your video from winning te Pay it Forward Challenge is FINALLY ready to go up tomorrow. I planned to put it up today but I had a more pressing matter. But tomorrow...finally! I hope you like it!

Suldog said...

Done. As usual, with vitriol. Don't let it throw you. I love it, and I thank you.

Angie Ledbetter said...

LOL, Sham. Hear ya.

Jane, that would be good to know about the acorns. :)

Sorry about your Pawpaw's passing, Colby. :( I do so love my very own video. I laughed till I hurt! THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Glad you like, Sul.
