Ug...Monday

Didn't wanna get out of bed this morning. 'Specially didn't wanna go clean the puppy's room. Don't wanna face the week. Feel like the subject of this fantastic painting. Wish I was on some tropical beach alone without a care in the world.

Am I strange? Never mind, don't answer that -- I know I am, but do you share the same sentiments about Mondays sometimes? I think I'm just tired to the bone. But this too shall pass. I'm grateful to be alive and well and here to greet another day...even if it is a Monday. And even if I do have to take the second sick teenager to the doctor today. The upper respiratory funk is going around like wildfire, closing some schools and offices. Double ug.

You only have til midnight tomorrow to cast your vote on how many beads are in the stack of Mardi Gras strands pictured for a chance to win a delicious King Cake. {Original post here, under the lasagna recipe.}

I'll be talking about the traditions of Mardi Gras in the next few days, so stay tuned. Do any of you non-Louisiana folks know the catch phrase for parade day? Someone will put it in a comment, I'm sure. :)

Ever check your stat counter data? Fun info. awaits if you can decipher it! Some of the search phrases visitors plugged into an engine and then stumbled into Gumbo Writer last week made me smile:
  • right brain left brain
  • what i gonna be when i grow up
  • poop poetry
  • nest duck gumbo recipes
  • how to calm myself before going to the dentist
  • redneck time out

Hope all of you out there in BlogLand are doing swell and finding opportunities to let your talents shine (for they are many), and that your own Monday is any color but blue.

My mom has another MRI scheduled tomorrow, so all prayers lobbed would be greatly appreciated, as the progress of her glio blastoma is checked. For those blessedly unfamiliar with this mysterious brain tumor disease, it's the same kind Ted Kennedy has.

"See ya" again tomorrow. Now, I'm comin' to visit YOU.

"what i gonna be when i grow up"

Doesn't the fact that google sent this soul your way make you feel all warm and fuzzy?

It should!

I have felt like Monday all week :(
So tired, achy bones and joints, kinda crabby.
Oh well, I just drink more coffee and eat more doughnuts :)

Thinking of your Mom.

Angie, that list of search phrases is the best! I'm going to go see if my counter tallies that info.

Prayers for your mom and the family. I know all-too-well what it's like to have a sick parent, and it's unsettling among so many other things. Thinking of you. HUGS.

I love Mondays - but not ones like today, days "off." Oh well.

I'll light the Marys for your mom!

Oh, let us know about the MRI -- *HUG HUG*

I used to detest Mondays when I worked outside the home, now they are just like other days, I guess.....

Love that painting! Sometimes I feel like Mondays are another shot at getting things done--sort of like a New Year. But we all have days like the one describe! Take it an hour at a time. Or a minute at a time. I hope it ends up being a good one. ;o)

Today doesn't feel like Monday to me since the kidlings have it off. Please know loving thoughts and prayers are being sent to your mama from some strange yet supportive folks in PA!

Bella, it made me smile so big, but also made me long for my little students from the previous three years. *sniff* How I miss them.

Mrs. Parks, get some AirBorne or dose up on lots of Vit C!!! Thanks for the good thoughts.

Appreciate you, Janna. (It's awesome to have support and caring from cyber friends. It DOES make a difference.)

Carrie, thanks SO much. I love the Marys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will do, Kat. :)

Amy, love that picture too. Wish I had a huge version to hang in my house. Will have to do research and track down the artist if possible. Thanks for the good words.

DebraLS, strange folk prayers are some of the best...next to kiddies'. :) Thank you.

It sure sounds like you're needing something you're not getting, and that you're giving way more than you're refilling. Sending you prayers and love.

lovin' those search phrases, makes you wonder doesn't it?

It's a Monday. All day, unfortunately. And by the state of my husband's mood, my kids' lives, and things at work...it must be a full moon too.

Hope your Monday perks up!

Jenni, you are TOO sweet. I hope to meet the February JWChallenge and finish this month. Promise to send when done. :)

Thank you, Deb S. I'm feeling better after the trip with son to doc, some housework, and a nap!

'Preciate it a lot, Barbara.

Hope you bounce back quick, Melissa!

Sharla, sure does. (My kids are making up days missed from Hurricane Gustav, so school's in here today.)

Hear ya, Wendy, and thanks.

2nd Cup, much appreciated. :)

I don't know what parade day is. All I can think of is "Fat Tuesday," whose name I have a personal aversion to. Ugh. But whatever - "Laissez les bon temp rouller, mon cher!"

Prayers for your mama.

Prayers for Mom. As for the catch phrase, which one are you looking for? The one to catch or the one to earn? This should get things moving. PW - What is your answer on this. We need to get Colby and Michelle here for Mardi Gras. I would be content to sit back and watch.

Miz Angie, I was thinking of the famous THROW ME SOMETHIN', MISTER! phrase of Mardi Gras. :)

Thanks for prayer power, Oren. LOL...NOT looking for the bead-wanters' shout. Would be a hoot for our bloggy friends to come down for the festivities, for sure. And we could feed 'em right while they were here.

Kimmi, thanks. Glad Mondays are good to ya. :)

And, Colby, thanks to you too.
