Sad Day

After an heroic 2-1/2 year battle with brain cancer, my beautiful mom passed away yesterday afternoon at home, where we'd cared for her through the long journey. I will miss her...have missed her for a long time already now, but am happy she has gotten her wings and flown far from her earthly cage.

You can remember her by doing this -- complain little [never once in 30 months did Mother complain, although it would only be natural to do so] and laugh long [Mom was still chuckling up until a few days ago].

@@@

Thank you for your kindnesses, your prayers and thoughts. They are much appreciated. And especially to our Kathryn Magendie who's hosted several posts about Mom's health.

May love and passion for the things that fulfill you be ever present in your life!

It is indeed a sad day but take heart in knowing that she will live on in the tiny moments of your life. A sunset, a sunrise, a smell or a song, she will always be near you.

I hope that, after this long road for all of you, that you will take time to remember, mourn, cry and get up again to carry on.

Angie, I'm sad with you today. Your mom taught you some valuable lessons, ones I need to remember, too. I learned more about courage, patience, and love, watching my own mother in her valiant battle with cancer. You'll never forget the details of how to live triumpantly amid such devastation. May the Lord be with you today and comfort you in your loss.
Love and prayers, Annette

Complain little, laugh long, she sounds like my late stepmother, who passed away from breast cancer four years ago this May.

I'm sorry for your loss, Angie, but her lessons will live on through you!

Oh Angie, I am so very sorry for your loss. You've been an inspiration to so many of us with the way you took such loving care of her - never complaining. Like Mother, like Daughter. My prayers will be with you during this time.

My prayers to you, Alaine, Buck, Dee, and your whole family.

I have such great memories of being in your house off of Tara Blvd (don't remember the exact address, but I can still identify it if I drive by) playing poker for matchsticks. Your mom was so funny and entertaining, and your dad was the only one I knew who was even potentially as goofy as my dad. I know you'll miss her, and I'm also glad she's healed now.

Love you all! Marty

You were blessed with a great mom, and she was blessed with a wonderful family including twin girls. By caring for her yourselves, your love transcended the boundaries that society has set up for the elderly and frail. That beautiful sunset is a gift of thanksgiving any way you look at it! <3, Joey
