Writerly Wednesday ~~ Why We Need Editors

I just read a nice blog post over at Harvey Stanbrough's place, and thought some of you might be interested in the topic of editorial assistance. (And if you haven't signed up for his blog yet, you're missing out.)

Scroll down if you missed last week's post. If you've been thinking about some outrageous promo idea for Kat's new book, you can leave your contest entry in a comment today and/or at her blog. Prizes and a signed copy of SECRET GRACES await your suggestions. While at Kat's bloggy home, check out her excellent post on the Reader-Writer waltz, and get updated information on her blog tour stops.

Hope you are all making splendid progress on your WIPs and aren't in a serious rut of non-activity like me. *smile* How about sharing a wee progress report?

Now...go forth and write on!

I need to get back to writing, but this blasted cold has me doing not much more but reading and laying on the couch (or is it lying?). Anyway, I HAVE been reading a fascinating book that pertains directly to my story, so I suppose I *am* still engaged in writerly activity. ;-)

Harvey's blog is the best.

First draft maybe 1/4 done. Too slow, but speed isn't happenin' no matter what I try.

I hope you find your way back to your story soon.

Hi Angie. Thank you so much for Harvey's blog site reference. I went, I visited, I was impressed and I referenced both you and Harvey with links back to you both on my blog on 3-6-2010 (double entry). What a treasure trove of information on writing he is. Thank you again. I hope I did not infringe anything or step on any toes for doing it...maybe I should have asked for permission? I don't know how these things work. Would you mind going to my blog to see if it is OK? Grazie...

Also want to invite all y'all to drop by our social network for writers at http://writingtheworld.ning.com and take a look. The more the merrier!

After a long hiatius, I wrote over 3000 words on Sat--and now can see the end in sight in the next two months:) Hard to get back in it though but worth it.

Hey, Angie,

Just finished the last of my chapter re-writes for the end of my novel. I'll polish them, then post them for my crit group. I've got a week off that I'll be using for my final edits, then it's off to my beta readers!

On a more somber note, I just heard from Kat about your mom and friend. You're in my prayers, Miss Angie, everyday.

God love you, dear, for all that you do.

I came from Kat who says you need support right now. So sorry to hear about your battles with cancer, I know what it is to nurse loved ones through this terrible disease: exhausting and frightening, you never feel like you can do enough. Try and take some time for yourself though, if only to recharge your batteries in order to be able to carry on (easier said than done, I know).

Came here at Kathryn's suggestion. Understand you are helping out loved ones with cancer. My daughter is a survivor and those days before during and after her operation were so difficult. Hope you have someone helping you.

Hi Angie,
I heard over at Kathryn's that you're in a crazy time right now. I just wanted to let you know that I'm praying for you and your family, and also that I look forward to you rejoining the blogosphere when you're ready and able. :-)
Until then, I'll be praying God blesses and keeps you.

Hey Angie, just wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers! Hope things will start to get better for you!

Thinking of you in your time of need. Just to show support from across the cyberwaves, Angie.

I was just reading, over at Kat's Blog, about all you are coping with at the present time. As you might suspect, I am no fan of cancer or the toll it takes on the caregivers whose strength and compassion we, who wrestle with this damn disease, rely on.

I just want to send you my best wishes and support and my admiration for all you are doing.

I hope to see you back blogging again soon.

Angie, just read Kathryn's blog about how life is hard for you right now. I'm so sorry. Please know you and yours are in my prayers and I will wait patiently for you to return to the crazy world of blogging. But family and friends always first. ((HUGS))

Debra Lynn Shelton said...

Hey, Angie. Just stopping by to give you a big, bear hug and let you know my love and heartfelt best wishes are with you at this difficult time. Your presence is greatly appreciated here in the blogosphere and deeply missed. Please, take your time, and know how much you are loved.

Hi Angie ... just wanted to stop in and give you {{hugs}}! I know this is a very hard time for you and your family and I wish I could make all the stress and pain go away ... it's not always nice being human!

Just know that you, being the very generous person (and daughter) that you are, give your mom the most precious gift ... being there for her! And remember, too, that there are a whole bunch of us, out here in blogland, that are thinking of you and sending lots of positive energy your way!

Hi Angie,
Just showing up to spread some love. You blog has given me a smile on days when I didn't feel up to it.

My heart goes out to you at this time. My prayer is that the God of Heaven and earth will extend his mercy to your Mother and your friend and strengthen you for the road ahead. He said in this life we would have trouble, however I ask that he send people to you. That will show you some of the love he has for you in any way you need and also to your mother and your friend. God Bless you Angie.

Snap out of it, Gumbo Writer. You're busy. That WIP will be better as it stews a little. Take good care.

Angie, I miss you! I'm sorry to hear of the struggles you're going through. Know that you're in my thoughts and prayers. I'll keep checking for the day you return to blogland. (But I understand why you're absent.) And may all those alligators lose their teeth soon!

Many bear hugs from Indiana. Even though we don't technically have bears. :)
