Boudreaux & Thibodaux at the Barber Shop

Hey y'all. Guess what? We got SNEAUX here in Baton Rouge Friday night while I was at my parents' house. Some of it stuck around til yesterday even. (Check out the big lush green plants beneath the white roof in the last photo.)

Global Warming you say? How can that be when the Deep South got a hefty sprinkling of the white stuff two years running? Have a look~~~

@@@

And now for the newest adventure with our wild Cajun bon amis, Boo & Thib:

Just in time for the holidays, Boudreaux goes over to Thibodeaux's barbershop for a shave and to get himself spruced up. While Thibodeaux lathers up his friend, Boudreaux mentions a problem he's been having.

"Thib, ya know what? I been havin' real trouble gittin' a close shave 'round mah (my) cheek area, me. Even got me one'a dem (them) new fancy electric shavers, and it don't help none, no."

Thibodeaux says, "Mais, I got just da ting (thing) for dat (that)," and takes out a small wooden ball from a nearby drawer. "Just place dis between your cheek and gum, and you won't have no stubble left, no."

Boo puts the ball in his mouth, and Thibodeaux gives his best pal the closest shave he's ever experienced.

Right as Thibodaux finishes the last stroke, Boudreaux manages to say, "Hey Thib, I got a question to ax (ask) ya. What happens if I swallow dis ball??"

Thib laughs. "No problem. Juss (Just) do like everybody else and bring it back tomorrow!"

Wow, you southerners are a darn funny breed! Love the story and the dialect and especially your spelling of the word "snow!" Sad to say that doesn't negate global warming, though. It just goes to show how unpredictable nature can be. ;-)

cute! :-)

we're looking for sneaux today as well. mind you, our indian summer lasted until last week here in New York city.

so, maybe there IS something to that Global warming thingy after all.

its supposed to cause erratic weather patterns, like snow in the south, warmth in the north.

o'course, waddooweenoh?

thanks for a fun post.

Love those photos! Especially the house and flakes, with the Christmas lights glowing in the background.

Can I just say EEEWW. But funny.

BTW I used the Tony's you sent me in a cornbread chorizo sausage stuffing and it came out awesome.

We didn't get as much sneaux as you did and I'm glad! Had my fill when I lived up North in Yankee land! Love the pics and that Boo Thib joke was hilarious, sha! Have a great Sunday!

I love sneaux. We got some night before last, and it was AWESOME. Living in south Mississippi and being originally from central Florida, I can definitely say that I never see snow. Guess the weather decided to change that. :)

We had what is becoming our annual post-Thanksgiving [what I used to call] freak snow storm here in the Philly area. If it's like the past few years, it will then warm to balmy temps by Christmas.

Okay, that's HILARIOUS but I'm feelin' a bit queasy thinking about it. ;)

Oog!

We got a nice dusting of snow, too. Maybe a couple of the photos I took from my kitchen will show up later in the week.

You've got to be one of THE most creative folks out heya.
How I hollered when I saw the inscription on your snow-glazed windshield. Sigh. That's just like DUST to us Normalites here in Illinois, girl!

Thanks for the giggles!

P.S. I heard about the sneaux - my mama told me so. But, alas, I haven't seen any in NOLA yet. Did I miss it?

Ewww!

I sort of wish it would snow here - because it would have to get warmer in order for that to happen. brrrrr. Did you make a sneauxman?

I wish I could do that, write with an accent. that is so amazingly cool! Not cold, which now you are experiencing and hopefully enjoying! Too funny!

You have such classy storms. ;) Ours is "Snow" or "another heaping pile of sh$$" depending on who's shoveling.
