Writing Tools

If you haven't checked out Poets & Writers yet, you might enjoy a stroll through the publication's Tool for Writers section. Good stuff there.

What's the best thing in your writer's toolbox?

Me!

Sorry, you asked, and it's early, and I'm feeling a bit snarky today (don't go there, Angie!). : )

I'll check this out. Thanks for the link. Have a great day.

A lot of self-help books, and very helpful critique and writing partners. Also, my husband. When I'm stuck I can count on him to get me going again with ideas.

Prayer. It calms me when doubts come and while sitting still the ideas come.

Thanks for the link. There was a lot of cool stuff to be read there.

The best thing in my writer's tool box? The first thing that comes to mind is reading. Reading good books always inspires me to write.

LOL Scott. I'd have been disappointed if your comment held no snarkage. :P

The Writer - So nice to have a creative & supportive spouse. Makes the journey smoother.

Analisa - Prayer is the best centering helper I know of!

Not surprising, one of my favs too, Michelle. :)

Scobberlotcher - So THAT'S the secret to your wonderful writing and novel! Thanks for sharing.

My critique group and the courses I've taken are the best tools in my box.

Hard to pick just one. Prayer, husband, writing books and magazines. And other writers like you!

Carrie - It would make a sturdy picnic basket. :)

You're so right about the importance of a good and trusted writing/crit group or partner, Lynnette & Deb!

Donna - You got a full toolbox, friend. :D

Most excellent book, Schube. (I sent you a recommendation for another.)

Kathryn - What'd we do without our "craptops?" Love & miss ya bunches.

Aww, Terri, thanks. So important to have our writing tribe, isn't it?

My Mac laptop, and my friend Steffie, the editor.

I'm echoing several other people's thoughts here, but for me the most important thing is the occasional person to bounce an idea off of. They're hard to cram in the toolbox (har har), but it's nice not to work in a vacuum all the time.
