Of Olde Tomes and Cajuns

First, the cool contest concerning the antique book~~

Author lady, friend, mom o' eight, fairy princess Jenni James is hosting a blog contest over at her place. Now, y'all know how I love books, and olde ones in particular, right?

So you're gonna help me win it, oui? All ya have to do is pop over to Jenni's loverly blog HERE and leave a comment telling her Angie sent ya.

Best part? By commenting, you're entered in the contest too! Sooo...if receiving an antique tome in the post from dear Jenni from Jolly Ol' England appeals to you, then "git ta gittin'!"

BTW, the SpellChecking function detests me! LOL

Now, about the Cajun-ness of it all [Insert Niecy Nash's voice here. And if you don't know who she is, you should!], here are just a few of the wonderments produced by my home state:

*Dass riiight -- it's ALL about food/drink, friends and music here...well, and maybe a bahonkus or two!*

Oh, it's only 8 o'clock in the morning and now I am really hungry! What a yummy list! 'Cept for that butt paste, I mean...;)
I am partial to the green tabasco myself...

Well, I grew up in the (original) home of the (York) Peppermint Pattie! Low fat treat.:) And I guess we are famous for shoo fly pie, too... you know, PA is a big state so I'm going mostly regional here.
Let's see, what else- oh, Louisa May Alcott and Perry Como... and my dad was almost mayor once of our little town- he's pretty famous in my eyes...:)

Oh, I saw Jenni's photo and I thought I was reading her blog which got me really confused. I hope you win her book.

Cool list!

Mine is famous for being a province. ;)

Red, you'd get along fine here! My whole family took the AmTrak to PA a few years ago. Gorgeous country! (Shoe flie pie, not so much...but that may be because Mom bought a soggy 2-day old one.) :)

Lori, thanks! I heart Jenni.

Um, Hilary, you're in Canada, right?

What a mouth-watering, ear-tickling list. Love the crawfish, the Tabasco, turducken . . . yum.

I was in New Orleans once on a bottomless expense account. It was like heaven with hangovers.

I want to add the delicious mufaletta from Central Grocer. And Mulates!

Like Hilary, I live in a province. Mine claims to be the Greatest Place in the World - really. We have mountains and beaches, trees and more trees, and milder winters than the rest of Canada (Victoria, at the south end of my island, is affectionately known as The Miami of the North). My particular bit of B.C., Nanaimo, is famous for its annual Bathtub Race and for Nanaimo Bars.

Angie, are you going to put up your widget again so we can keep voting? Or did I just miss it?

Chris, heaven with hangovers, hunh? Pretty good description of the Big Easy. :) And those muffs? Not too much better than those!!

Does sound gorgeous, Sandra. No...had enough of that blog voting mess. LOL

Nebraska is the birthplace of Kool-Aid! :-)

How about our ability to do the unholy and bring together the great mix of redneck and cajun. Works for our crew. Maybe we need to tinker with the shoo-fly pie. Maybe dutch oven.

Aaron Neville!?!?! I'm so jealous. Wondering, though, how come you're not standing closer. :)

Washington State is known for apples, rain, and mountains that explode.

Angie Ledbetter said...

I never knew that, Melissa! :)

Oren, you're so right! We'll work on that dutch oven shoo-fly.

Hey, Schube! I stood a respectful distance away...while the camera was firing. hehe

Well, we like to inbreed, don't have many teeth, and can't conjugate a verb to save our life. You gotta love us!
Off to check out that book giveaway. Don't know how I missed it:)

My original state, Georgia, is famous for peanuts, peaches, and Jimmy Carter. My adopted state of Arizona is famous for saguaro cactus and the Grand Canyon. I love both of them, but I can't work at the Grand Canyon in Georgia.
