Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity Jog

Today's post title made me wonder about that little ditty I heard and chanted in childhood when a family member returned home, so natch, I had to do a little googling on the subject. (Like I need a single "nother" piece of trivia in my brain, right?) Anywho, here's the entire nursery rhyme so y'all can have a nifty ear worm for the rest of this Monday~~

To market, to market, to buy a fat pig,
Home again, home again, jiggety jig.
To market, to market, to buy a fat hog,
Home again, home again, jiggety jog.
To market, to market, to buy a plum bun,
Home again, home again, market is done.

The writers conference was good, and I'll be sharing notes with you on Wednesday Writings. And, yes, we ate lots and lots of good food too! Even had a last minute surprise guest join our merry caravan, but you'll have to wait to find out more.

Until then, have a great week, and do something nice for yourself and someone else today. Thanks for your continued prayers for my friend in the hospital, and also for your blog votes. Love ya!

I always knew the one line, but not the rest of the rhyme. Thanks for posting it! My prayers for your friend in the hospital, and I'm glad the conference went well. Can't wait to hear the details.

If the pig/hog/bun buyer would just make a shopping list, she wouldn't have to go back and forth so much.

Ooh, they had good food? Lucky you.
I've never heard the whole of this rhyme before.

Welcome back. You have to get Colby to repost the pic she posted while you were gone. Is Houma breathing a sigh of relief yet?

I haven't heard about that poem in years and I'm not sure I every saw the complete text.

BTW - I had grits today for breakfast at a local restaurant...with sugar of course, since I'm a Yankee but they made me think of you and I smiled while sprinkling on the sugar.

Thanks, Michelle and LizzFrizz!

Melissa, I took good notes, so can't wait to share.

One of my grandmothers loved that little ditty too, Amie. :)

Becca, stay tuned!

LOL, Karen. Now you can join him in the piggy play.

Kasie, tough noggies. LOL :)

Thanks, Debbie. Friend's hubby was moved to a private room this morning.

Donna, I'm compiling my notes. It's always nice to rub elbows with other writers and poets.

Ask Me, aren't surprises a fun part of life?

Wendy, ain't it the truth? L.O.L.

There's good food everywhere in Louisiana, Jessica, but especially in the Cajun regions!

Thanks, kimmi. Thinking about you as your book launches into the world!!

Lynette, glad to help. And I'll be stopping by shortly now that I'm nested in at Mom's. :)

Thanks, Terri girl.

Oren, I'll swing by Colby's and check out her pics. And, yeah, I'm sure Houma's glad we've checked out. (Hey...did ya know they are the US city least touched by recession? Cool, huh?)

Thanky, bluev!

LOL, Liz. And he said wee wee wee all the way home? :)

JyLnC, you go wit ya grits! (You'll like tomorrow's recipe.)
