They Got Here From Where?

Have you cruised your stat counter's keyword analytics lately? I get a kick out of it, and it's the perfect activity for a Monday morning. No math, no brain power needed, and just makes you laugh. Let me know some of the paths others use to find your blog, or just enjoy the trip.

A few of my favorite "maps" folks used to find or stumble upon Gumbo Writer this past week:
  • cajun wedding cakes
  • ticklish bones
  • blondes revenge
  • macaroni velveeta alfredo sauce
  • mother little helper agency
  • gumbo writers
  • New Orleans Mardi Gras xxx dump
  • cajun firecrackers recipie
  • comfort food best macaroni and cheese
  • trivia on gumbo
  • reynolds wrap box indents on the ends of box
  • gumbomum

And my personal fav~~~

  • trivia for the food for the brain

Glad top arrow points one round the bend. This is obviously where I was when I tried to write the first comment in gobbledegook... x

LOL, my Brit friend! And that is the ONE place I don't need a map for!

I once posted about attending a workshop entitled "Writing about Sex." That was months ago and it still gets hits--mostly from very, very conservative countries.

I'm addicted to Google Analytics. It started when I created Roses & Thorns and now I use it for zine writer. Beyond key words I love seeing who is hitting what on my blog. I also get to follow through on people who may have linked to me without signing up as a follower. I contact them and thank them and try to reciprocate whenever possible.

Reynolds wrap? LOL! I just had to google that, but it brought me to this post. What was the original connection?

Debbie said...

I'm wondering about the Reynolds Wrap too!

Haha I love that sign. I watch my analytics on a regular basis and always find it interesting how people find me. :) Yours is even more fascinating. I can't say anyone has ever found me while looking for anything with velveeta. LOL

love the sign. it's probably from Southern California...have you ever driven our freeway system? i check the analytics often..never fails to make me smile and then scratch my head in disbelief.

Angie Ledbetter said...

Wendy, it's all purely fascinating!

Have you signed up for Google Alerts yet, Nannette? Lots of good info. comes to my inbox from that.

Sandra & Debbie, the original post was called Who Knew? and was about the little tab on the ends of plastic and aluminum foil-type boxes. http://angie-ledbetter.blogspot.com/2008/12/who-knew.html

Jenn, now you're gonna have to do a Velveeta post! :)

I have indeed, Jill. What a trip!

I can't offhand say what some of my key words were, but I do know that I've looked at them and scratched my head. Some of them I don't remember saying anywhere on the blog or even understand how they fit.

It's great fun to look at them, though.

That's pretty funny! Okay, so is this counter easy to install or do I have to sign up at some site for it?

LOLOL! I love the google searches! LOL! I'm always suprised at how many times by blog or website pops up in someone's search! LOL! LOVE GOOGLE! And sorry I've been so busy with Kasie last week.. but I'm back now! Jenni

The one that always gets more folks to my place than any other is "Co-Ed Naked Snow Jogging" or some combination of those parts. The folks who find me that way are no doubt disappointed to find that there are no pictures :-)

I really need to install those analytics so I can join in on the fun!

Those are cool, Angie. I also like on some site seeing the interesting code words to punch in before it accepts. Once it had me type in toilet. ; )

And I'm leaving you a red head joke. ; )

Yesterday a red head friend had a flat tire on the interstate...

"So I ease my car over to the shoulder of the road, carefully, get out of
the car and open the trunk. I took out 2 cardboard men, unfolded them and
stood them at the rear of my car facing oncoming traffic.

They look so lifelike you wouldn't believe it! They are in trench coats
exposing their nude bodies and private parts to the approaching drivers..

To my surprise, cars start slowing down looking at my lifelike men. And of
course, traffic starts backing up. Everybody is tooting their horns and
waving like crazy.

It wasn't long before a state trooper pulls up behind me. He gets out of his
car and starts walking toward me. I could tell he was not a happy camper!

What's going on here?, he asks.

My car has a flat tire," I said calmly.

Well, what the *^&%$# are those obscene cardboard men doing here by the
road?

I couldn't believe that he didn't know.

So I told him, "Hellooooo, those are my emergency flashers!"

Melissa Amateis said...

I love the stat counter, too! It's amazing how people find you!

Angie Ledbetter said...

Helen, it is puzzling how some of the words get connected with our blogs, huh?

I sent you an email, Jessica. :)

Jenni, I'm GLAD you and Kasie were hanging out! Can't wait to read about it.

Weird, huh Suldawg? Who would even think to look up those words to begin with?

LOL, Carrie & Kathryn.

blueviolet, you'll have fun with it for sure.

Kimmi, I've had some humdinger word verifications too! LOL on the redhead joke! Emergency flashers. hehe

I'm almost embarrassed to say I don't even know how to use keywords in my blog, much less how to analyze them. If it's a useful practice...any advice? I'm always game to be educated...

Travis Erwin said...

I love to see the Google searches that land at my blog.

Well, you surely know already how I found you and certainly didnt want to leave without saying hello and how much your analytics are. Paula, a German in Florida

Stacy Quarty said...

Oooooh... I'll have to look mine up too.

Loved the Reynold's wrap. I emailed that one to all my friends when you posted it.

Your macaroni and cheese is the best ever so I understand how they found you with that inquiry. It's making me hungry just thinking about macaroni(Angel Hair Pasta), Velveeta, and Alfredo sauce.

I think my fav is "blondes revenge"...for obvious reasons :-)

Wouldn't we all like to be found under brain food trivia! Love the sign. I know the feeling...

Angie Ledbetter said...

Sure is, Melissa!

Embee, I don't consciously use search engine buzz words ever. The stat counter you add to your blog gives you all sorts of info on your visitors: location, entrance and exit pages, downloads, time spent, return or original visitor, keywords used to arrive, etc. Best part is it's free!

Me too, Travis.

Hello, Paula. No, I don't automatically know. I just browse my weekly report sometimes. Welcome and hope you come back by!

Stacy, I'm glad you found it useful. :)

I'm blushing, JyLnC...well, I'm smiling real big, at least.

LOL, Colby, the Wonder Pup Mom.

The Things We Carried, would be nice.

I love how you can take a warped picture and a list of crazy words and create something that makes me laugh. Not bad for a Monday's work.

Mother little helper agency. Gotta like that one.

Statcounter. One more thing to learn about this blog world new to me. How does everyone keep up?

Angie Ledbetter said...

LOL, Barry. I looked over your favorite blogs list, and I visit a lot of the same ones. You probably followed me from a comment on one of them. :)

Deb, we have similar tastes.

Seeing all there is to learn in Blogland sure makes me feel stoopid, Midlife. I guess we just learn as we go...kinda like kindergarten.
