Just Curious...

Ever wonder what you'd do if you suddenly became rich? I had a dream last night of money floating down from above, so that's what inspired this post. Hey, maybe it's an omen that I'll hit the jackpot this year with my goals and resolutions!

What's the most unusual thing you'd do if someone handed you a million smack-a-roos or you won the lottery?

Not unusual, but I'd buy up land on Killian Knob to stop all development.

But, let's see, unusual thing...hmmm....go in a store and buy whatever I want without looking at the price tag - I should say "stores" - so, drug store, grocery store, department store, etc....oh! and send my friends an unusual gift - something they wouldn't buy for themselves. Surprise my son with something extravagant - like buy him a new car and drive it all the way to Oregon and then fly back....have a big arse party and fly all my friends here! Not so unusual maybe, but sure would be fun!

Good mornin', Ms. Mountain Woman About to Be Published! All good things to do with the moolah. I'd be big into surprising others too, just for the fun of watching. :)

Let's see. I would PAY for a vacation for my sister and me. We would fly somewhere warm and gorgeous and relax on the beach. Wait, would i need a bathing suit? Scratch that..........

Buy A house! And pay off my parents' mortgage too! I hope this comment goes through... I tried for ten minutes to get yesterday's comment through--:o( I wonder if anyone else has the problem where it says this link is broken all the time. Anyhoo. So said, about the stolen purses! Sheez, that's the worst. But i did crack up, when you mentioned tears not acne... LOL! you're so funny, even when it's super sad.

YAY! It worked! I'm posting another one to celebrate! Wahooo!

I'm with Kat - I'd go to my favorite stores and buy WITHOUT looking at the tags. Still, it'd be TJ Maxx and Target, so we're not talking ridiculously priced things - but I'd buy cartloads full! :)

Vodka, you could just get a private beach and let it all hang out! The servers would have to call by cell before they approached you on the beach. :)

LOL, giddy. Thanks for your perseverance. I hate the cyber monkeys...I see them as modern day Flying Monkeys from Oz. *shiver*

Janna, I'd probably do the same thing, with maybe a few trips to bigger stores. :)

I am just not a wild, frivolous person. I am sure, even if I tried to spend it, I would squirrel it all away for a rainy day. How boring am I?

I'd give it all away. My mom used to say the same thing, and it drove me CRAZY, but now I get it.

Interestingly, I think I would sell everything, buy a house on the beach in Costa Rica and live pretty simply. It's fun to dream.

Use it to help people that truly need it without them knowing where it came from. When that happens, it is so cool.

Debbie, I'd have to spend some of it. What if I never lived to see "later"? :)

I hear ya, Carrie. The best part of becoming independently wealthy would be helping others. And I bet you could come up with some "academic" things to do with it too. hehe

Jane, that sounds grand!

Amen, Brother Oren!

I would fix up my house and stash the rest, I'd live on some but still work...it would lighten my load!

I'd also take a big trip with my kids.

Unusual? Hmm...I guess I would go on vacation somewhere since I've never gone on one. Go to a festival or a county fair.

our church needs it's own building so a large chunk of it would go to that. the rest would be for college, paying off all debt and some pretty incredible world travel. and if there's any left, i'd like to be the person who leaves $100 tips just for fun.

I love chickens. I would make my own little backyard area for chickens (I live in the city) as I had one time a few years ago. I only had four, but I had a heyday while it lasted. You asked for the weirdest, right?

Melissa Amateis said...

Unusual...hmm. Well, my family loves classic cars - my two brothers and my dad all own 66 Chevelles. So I think I would buy each person in my family a mint classic car. Weird, I know. Ha!

Fine plan, Amy.

Michelle, I'm sad you never had a vacation. :( I hope you DO win the lottery, then jet off to England for their month-long Rensaissance Faire or something. :)

Know whatya mean, Jill! I left a $20 on Christmas Day at Waffle House (not that I could afford it), and man, the feeling you get from that...priceless!

2nd, I heart the chicken plan. You could sell the "aigs" and make even more moolah.

Melissa, I completely understand the obsession with vintage cars. Had a 66 Mustang once and I mourn the day I sold it! I WILL get another, some how, some way!

Pay my bills!! I would come back to this one!!:)) Haven't been anywhere--just hanging out and working on some issues but plan to be back blogging by Monday!! Happy New year too!! Missed ya!

As boring as it sounds, the very first thing I would pay off our debt. I can't even begin to imagine the sweet relief that feat would bring! After that, share the money around with friends and family, have some fun, and help as many people as I could...especially people who need health insurance or health care. It's sad when you can't afford to protect your health (or that of your family).

TERRI! You musta got my note at ya blog. So glad to hear from you. Wishing you a winning lotto ticket or something real good. :)

All good stuff, Embee.

I'd pay off my sons' mortgages... but that's not unusual.
I'd spread some extra wealth to their families too... to enable them to live a little easier, and invest some in education funds for the grandchildren (one not born yet).... but that's not unusual.
Not sure what I would do that's unusual... but if the megamoney ever materialises, I'm sure I'll soon think of something!

If/when you do scoop the lotto, can I have 1% of your winnings? If you don’t ask you don’t ask you get, I’m often told. :)

If I won, I’d bring artificial sunlight to my hometown in England since we don’t get enough of it.

Actually on 2nd thought I’d probably build a house full of mirrors, nothing unusual about that, right? ;)

I would create as many animal sanctuaries, in as many states and countries, as the money would buy ... with some kind of unbreakable clause that it could never be used for anything else. If I were king (or queen) of the world ....

Shammickite, those all sound like great things.

t i m, sure, I'll give you 1%, and you do the same if you win. :) The house of mirrors sounds fascinating. Are you a carney at heart?

Small, you'd make a fine queen. The world would be a green happy place.

I'd quit my job so I can stay home and write, and take my cousin to Wales for our dream vacation together.

Aghh, this comment thingy took my comment away!!

Dreams about money and so I read up for you, Angiwe, often means: power, control and competency! And that would make for some successful writing for your New Year,! ; )

I would definitely buy a hairless cat.

I'd pay off any bills and then I'd probably look for some valid causes to contribute to and then I would buy something fun for my dh and I.

Angie Ledbetter said...

Deb, nice plan. Sensible + fun.

Unbreakable/Kimmi, thanks for the analysis. Hope it's right on!

Why doesn't that surprise me, Colby? :)

JyLnC, hope ya get a chance to try out your list!

I'd put my dry cleaner's daughter through college. Is that weird or odd enough?
