Seven Quirks a'Quackin'

Author Jenny James http://authorjennijames.blogspot.com/tagged me as one of her bloggy friends to post seven quirks or random things about myself. Hmmm, so many choices, so little space! I'll just type the first seven that come to mind...a dangerous proposition this early in the morning~

  1. I love coffee so much, I'm a little suspicious of those who don't drink it, or at least hot tea.
  2. To my kids' eternal embarassment, I'm prone to donning strange costumes and showing up in public places where they might be. {See Wolfie costume at the bottom of this post--> http://angie-ledbetter.blogspot.com/2008/10/athletic-supporter.html }
  3. I put pepper on cantaloupe.
  4. I make up stories about people I see while driving. Complete stories. With many intricate details. Two of my three kids do this too. :)
  5. Here's a real shocker -- I love to cook and eat.
  6. The title of my newest manuscript is Word Thief.
  7. I sleep with the cover pulled over my exposed ear. Eww, and I grind my teeth too. Oh, and I snore sometimes. And I love the rain-on-a-tin-roof noise of my sound machine. And I always sleep with the ceiling fan on. But at least I'm not a cover hog.

Since I just tagged others this week for a game of What's on Page 56, you get a pass. But I *would* love to hear some of your weirdest personal quirks...especially if someone in your family finds them particularly odious or strange. Spill the beans, I promise not to laugh. Well, I promise not to laugh real loud.

I think I will sit this one out. Most of my goofy stuff is public knowledge anyway.

I wanted to know what your book is about--I love the title! Tell more!
Quirky? Hmm--I don't know if I am (lol) I guess I eat strange--bland, boring, no pepper on my cantelope, definitly would not be able to eat at your house!

I sleep with the blanket over my ear, too, Angie! It started about the same time as my (un)healthy fear of spiders... when I realized they like to dangle from the ceiling above me. *shudders* None o' them boogers gettin' in MY ear.

Thanks for sharing all this!

I can't dangle my foot, or any other body part off the side of the bed-monsters may grab it (and I'm 51 years old and still do/think this)!

Sometimes when I shake people's hands, those of people whom I do not know, my hand tingles - like, I wonder "did they recently poo and not wash their hands....or did they just scratch themselves somewhere private and not wash their hands, or sneeze...." dang....laughing -and my hand doesn't stop "tingling" until I wash it - haw!

I think that's enough from me for now.........

I could give you seven from this MORNING!

Totally with you on the being suspicious of non-coffee drinkers! What's with that???

I think I'll try this exercise on my blog someday when I get the recipes out of the way!

You like pepper on cantaloupe, I like turnip sandwiches. Pureed turnip on white bread. Yup.

I'll be doing the "page 56" when I get back from vacation, which begins tonight :-)

Oren, you are such a chicken!! Okay, first, I am so on the same page about non-coffee drinkers!! Although they are few and far between, I do meet them and ALWAYS treat them like they belong in a museum (for freaks!). WTF?! A day without coffee, why I get anxiety just thinking about it. Here's a weird one: I CANNOT study, read, or concentrate unless my house is clean and organized...it's maddening! I am a perpetual "people fixer!" Ugh!! Quirky or just old fashioned P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C? "Those who can't, teach." LOL And last, but certainly not least, my list of "things to do/wanna do," is so big, I just don't do ANY OF IT! I am convinced that my list "procreates" while I am sleeping.

Terri, don't knock the pepper on cantaloupe till you try it once! As for the book...the best (and shortest) way I can explain it is to say it's like the Sex in the City gang meet Steel Magnolias and Yayas. It's women's "fiction," based on the interactions and struggles of members of a crazy writers group. Sound good?

*shiver* Janna. I think my phob is more about roaches and those nightmarish parasitic worms we saw on a jr. high film. We could be worse off -- I once met a woman author who slept with a fishing hat over her face. LOL. Wonder what caused that??

KM, my foot-dangling isn't OFF the bed, but just outside the cover. And, BTW, have your hands always had germ-ometers in them? ;)

Don't know about the non-caffeiners, Carrie. Maybe they're pod people? LOL

Barbara, don't quit with the recipes just yet. They've been mouth watering so far!

Sul, "To each his own," said the old lady as she kissed the cow! Turnip sammiches? hmmmm, is the texture like peanut butter?

PW, perhaps this particular self-study wouldn't be real good for you. LOL *smooch*

Your book sounds like something I might even read!!lol Really-- good idea!! How far along are you on it?

Angie Ledbetter said...

Thanks, Terri. I hope lots of people feel like you do! LOL. It's done and is just over 80,000 words. ;)

Thanks sister, you just bought me more "couch time." *SIGH*

hope your book is picked up, soon!

and i'm with kathryn m.: no foot dangling, or anything else that can be grabbed. i'm trying not to have my yoga mat/person/etc. always in the same spot, but . . .

Angie Ledbetter said...

Aww, PW, ya know I love ya. I just beat you to the punch with what you were going to say. ;)

Tut, thanks. I'll be sending it on the rounds shortly. The boogie man finds you if you stay in the same place? Don't understand. LOL

LOLOL!
I'm sooo cracking up reading these! I don't do coffee or tea! hahahaha! If I'd known that was a quirk I would've added that instead of the lemons. So you really, really have to have a cup of coffee every day? I mean like really? You can't just skip a day? You know go cocoa instead Or a fresh fruit smoothie? That is so weird to me! LOL!

Angie,
All of us have these little goofy ideas. Mine go off the deep end sometimes.
PW,
Careful what you ask for.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKK!!! No ma'am. There is no substitute for the morning coffee. None.

I guess I'll give you a pass on the "don't trust people who don't drink coffee" declaration. You have six kids, so that explains your choice not to drink it. Who'd wanna be more alert than they already are with a baseball team to herd? hehe

Angie Ledbetter said...

Oren, I bet you don't have any quirks! ;)

I must admit...the exposed ear thing is funny :)
