Haiku Hoopla!

Yeah, it's that time again! Write a haiku and post in comments for a chance to win a prize that will probably consist of grits, coffee, cobbler mix and/or pralines.

Or just leave a comment on what you think about poetry if you don't want to enter the Haiku Hoopla! You've got til midnight tonight. Feel free to pass the word around too. *wink*

And if ya missed the post yesterday on how you can have a better blog and accrue some blog love, scroll down and browse at your leisure.

Have a great week!

OK, that is the funniest thing I ever read. I think it is my new favorite poem in the world. A poem that makes you laugh combines all the best fundamental elements in the universe. Y'know?

Here's my stab:

Haiku for an Aging Blogger

Lost car key was found
Clenched between her own front teeth
Next time, more coffee

Oh, what fun! I said
Then I tried to write something
Writer's block haiku?

Lori and Amy's are awesome!! Ugh. I can't write poetry to save my life and I admire those who can. :)

Oh, I need more coffee before my Haiku writing begins! LOL! I'm only on my first cup! Great job ladies!

Haiku for a Deadline

The laundry tempts me:
soap suds, warm towels, clean socks.
Procrastination.

YAY! I love haiku! Amy, yours is hilarious. Here's my morning view

Lilies in sunshine
barely sway in the hot wind,
I'm air-conditioned.

EL.OH.EL, Amy! I loved the refrigerator haiku too. Made me cackle. Lurve your poem entry.

Lori, good one! Thanks for playing.

You can do it, B.J. Just three "simple" lines!

Cheffie, when you get fully caffeinated, maybe you can cobble together a java haiku? :)

CKHB, for some odd reason, I totally relate to your haiku.

Your fridge haiku is the first one I've ever really understood. What does that say about me? I still mutter "bless you" every time a post I'm reading is about haiku. Immature much? Yes, thank you for asking.

I'm not much into poetry anymore, though in high school and college, I used it a lot to deal with my angst - especially over boys. ;-)

Ok so here's my attempt.

Frantic.
Company swirling all around me.
Loud. Busy. Loved.
I am home.

Guess I should have actually drunk that cup of coffee before I hit Send. I left out a word. My haiku should have read:

Serena Williams
Dominates the sun-drenched court -
That's Big Babe Tennis.

Sheesh.

LOL, Debbie. You always make me smile.

Melissa, poetry is greath (and free) therapy. :)

Nice take on the haiku, giddy/Jenni. Hugs!

Thank you, Paper Whisperer. :)

I'm terrible at haikus. So I'll spare everyone the pain of reading my feeble attempts. BUT this did remind me of a blog I came across a few days back. It's all haikus about everyone's favorite pork-product, BACON!

Here's the link: http://baconhaikus.wordpress.com/

And here's my favorite one:

Girls that eat bacon
Are hotter than girls that don’t
Scientific fact!

Just wanted to share! Xo-KB

Janna girl, so good to hear from you! Hope all's well and that your WIP is coming along. Love the poem. :)

Kora -- bacon and haikus? What a great combo. Thanks for the linkage!

Oh, I'm so glad I saw this after the deadline. No pressure to write one. I do think they are most fun, though.
