Cajun Secret to a Long Marriage . . .

Thanks to my dad for sending me this smile of the day~~~

At St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hackberry, Louisiana, down near the bayou, they have weekly husbands' marriage seminars. At the session last week, the priest asks Boudreaux, who said he was
approaching his 50th wedding anniversary, to take a few minutes and share some insight into how he had managed to stay married to the same woman for five decades.

Boudreaux replies to the assembled husbands, "Mais, I try to treat my Marie nice. I spend money on her, invite her sometimes to da bouree game down at Poppa Tops Bar, and tings like dat. But best of all, I took her to France for da 25th anniversary!"

"Boudreaux, you are an amazing inspiration to all the husbands here! Please tell us what you are planning for your wife for your 50th anniversary?" the priest says.

Boudreaux puffs out his chest and replies, "Mais, padre, I gonna go pick her up."

Friday Funnies ~~ Boudreaux at the Pearly Gates

A little treat for your funny bone. Have a beautiful weekend, y'all!
@@@

When everybody on earth was dead and waiting to enter Paradise, God approached the line of Louisianians and said, "I want y'all to make two lines. One line for the men who were true heads of their household, and the other for the men who were dominated by their women. I want all the women to report to St. Peter.

Soon, the women were gone, and there were two lines of men. They were carrying on in typical Cajun fashion, talking about dem Saints, crawfish, Mardi Gras, fishing & hunting, etc.

The line of the men who were dominated by their wives was 100 miles long, and in the line of men who truly were heads of their household, there was only one man, Boudreaux.

God said to the long line, "You men should be ashamed of yourselves, I created you to be the head of your household! You have been disobedient and have not fulfilled your purpose! Of all of you, only one obeyed. Learn from him."

God turned to Boudreaux and asked, "How did you manage to be the only one in this line?"

Boo was quiet for a minute and you could've heard a pin drop. Then he whispered, "Mais, mah (my) wife, she tole me to stand raht (right) here, yeah."

Friday Funnies ~~ Boudreaux, the Romantic

As we say here, "Y'all pass a good weekend, ya hear?!" A little bit 'a Boo & Thib to get ya started~~~~~

Thibodaux is passing by Boudreaux's hay barn one day when, through a gap in the door, he sees Boo doing a slow and sensual striptease in front of his old green John Deere.
Hiney clenched, Boudreaux performs a slow pirouette and gently slides off first the right strap of his overalls, followed by the left. He then hunches his shoulders forward and in a classic striptease move, lets his overalls fall down to his hips revealing a torn and frayed plaid shirt.

Grabbing both sides of his shirt, he rips it apart to reveal his stained tee shirt underneath. With a final flourish, Boo tears the tee shirt from his body and hurls his baseball cap onto a pile of hay.

Having seen enough, Thib rushes in and says, "Mais, what da heck you doin', Boo?!"

"Jeez, Thibodaux, you done scart (scared) da snot outta me!" exclaims Boo. Then, obviously embarrassed, he says, "Me and mah old lady, we been havin' da troubles lately in da bedroom department, so da terapist (therapist), he done tole (told) me I should do someting sexy to a tractor."

That's all the TGIF I need to have a great weekend!

Hoping same for each and every one of y'all! Now, here's a new chapter in the life of those bad bad Cajun boys, right after a reminder that our fall issue of Rose and Thorn Journal went live today! @@@

One day, Boudreaux's walking down Main Street when he sees his buddy Thibodaux driving a brand new pickup.
Boudreaux pulls up to him with a wide grin.

"Hey, Thib, where you got dat truck?"

"Mais, Tammy Lou gave dat to me. Ain't it sumpin (something)?" Thib beams with pride.
Boo replies, "Hooo-boyyy, she juss gave it to ya? Mais, I know'd she was kinda sweet on ya, but a new truck?''

"Well, Boudreaux, me too, I was kinda shock, but lemme tole you what happen when she give it to me. We just drivin' out on County Road 6, in da middle of nowhare. All of a sudden, Tammy, she pull off da road, put da truck in 4-wheel drive, and head into da woods. She park dis (this) truck, gets down (term used for "out"), trew (threw) off all her clothes and say, 'Thibodaux, take whatever you want.'"

"So, me, I took da truck!"

"Mais, Boudreaux, you a smart man, yeah! Dem clothes woulda never fit you nohow!"

Friday Funnies ~~ Boo & Thib Go Hunting

Happy Friday, y'all! Here's another episode from the endless book of jokes about our two favorite Cajuns, sent to me by my Daddy...

Boudreaux and Thibodaux are some excited that hunting season is here once again. The two hire a pilot to fly them from Grande Mamou, Louisiana to Canada for some moose hunting.

The bon amies have had a good trip and manage to bag four. As they started loading the plane for the return trip home, the pilot tells them the plane can take only two moose.
They objected strongly in their Franglish dialect, and start waving their arms around wildly. Boudreaux says, "Mais, lass year we shot four a' dem moose, and da pilot let us put all dem big beasts on board, and he had da same kinda plane as yours!"
Reluctantly, the pilot gives in and all four are loaded. Unfortunately, even at full power, the little plane just can't handle the load and crashes a few minutes after takeoff.

Climbing out of the wreck, Boo asks Thib, "Any idea where we at?"

Thibodeaux replies, "I tink we pretty close to da same spot where we crashed lass year!"

Yay, it's Friday, so let's bring on the grins!

Today we have a joke that fits in two of my favorite humor categories -- Politically Incorrect and Cajun, so in a manner of speakin', y'all are getting a two-fer since it's a holiday weekend. Enjoy!

Note to new visitors: Don't forget to check out Rose and Thorn Journal. We'd love if you signed up for our free quarterly newsletters, browsed the submission guidelines, checked out the blog, and/or followed us on FaceBook & Twitter @RoseandThorn. Now...on with the foolishment...

@@@

Way down in Lafourche (La-foosh) parish, ol' Boudreaux gets a job with BP helping with the cleanup. Dat (that) man's some glad, since he done loss (lost) his revenues from fishin', crawfishin', shrimpin' and such from when dat (that) spill happened.

Boo reports for work and is told to speak to a supervisor about his assignment. Dat Cajun, him wander 'round a while, tinkin' (thinking) 'bout his bon ami (good friend) Thibodaux (Tib-uh-doe), and wishing he could get Thib some work too. Dat way, dey'd (they'd) have money to play some cards and drink a few beers on da (the) weekend, while dey watched dem (them) Saints and LSU Tigers play football, yeah.

Finally, Boudreaux finds the man and asks, "What it is I supposed to do?"

The supervisor tells him to go to the animal shelter and clean the pelicans. And off Boo goes to do just that.

Two hours later, Boudreaux comes up to the supervisor and says, "Okay. Dem birds, dey all clean! You want me to cook some rice to go wit (with) dat?

Friday Foibles ~~ Bad Ol' Boudreaux

Happy Friday mes amis! Hope your weekend is brimming with good, relaxing (or exciting, if that's what you're after) good times with friends and family.

Enjoy the latest installment of our adventures with those crazy Cajuns, Boudreaux [Boo-droe] and Thibodaux [Tib-uh-doe], or as they're known around these parts, Boo & Thib.

@@@

Boudreaux owned a large farm down in the St. Martinville, Louisiana swamplands, and had enjoyed playing at being a farmer for many years. He especially loved his large pond nearby. It was properly shaped for swimming, so he'd fixed it up nice with picnic tables, horseshoe courts, and some apple and peach trees so his buddies (including his best friend Thibodaux) could enjoy the surroundings when they came over to crack open a few cold ones together.

One evening, ol' farmer Boo decided to go down to his pond, as he hadn't been there for a while to look it over. He grabbed a five-gallon bucket to bring back some fruit for his wife Clotilde.

As he neared the pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee. Getting closer, Boudreaux saw a bunch of young women skinny-dipping in his pond.
He made the women aware of his presence and they all went to the deep end. One of the women shouted to him, "Hey! We're not coming out until you leave!"

Boo frowned and said, "Mais, dis mah pond, but I didn't come down to watch you ladies swim nekkid, no, or to make you get out my pond nekkid! Mais non, dat not da kinda ting a Cajun gentleman do." (Hey, no, that's not the kind of thing a Cajun gentleman does.)

The trespassing lady skinnydippers shuffle around nervously in the water not knowing what to do.

Holding the bucket up high for them all to see, wiley ol' Boudreaux says, "Mais, I'm juss (just) here to feed mah alligators!"

Boudreaux & Thibodaux in Hell!

Even though I can't talk today after screaming during the Supa Bowl, and my fingers hurt from a wild flurry of texting and tweeting, I'm still janked up from last night's Saints win!!!

So, in honor of this momentous and historical event, please enjoy today's special episode of Boudreaux and Thibodaux, which I usually reserve for Friday Foibles ~~~

Boudreaux and Thibodaux die and go to hell.

The devil assigns them the usual punishments and puts them in the pit where the heat is melting everyone. Satan returns sometime later to check on his newest arrivals and is surprised to find the Cajuns just sitting around talking their strange lingo, telling jokes and not even sweating.

"How come you're not so much as sweating here where everyone else is screaming and begging for relief from the heat?"

Boudreaux laughs and says, "Man, I was raised in da bayous of Sout Looziana. Dis ain't nothin' but May in Morgan City to me!" Thibodaux laughs long and loud and adds, "Mais yeah, ain't it da troot (truth)? I was raised up in Grande Mamou, and dis is lots cooler dan (than) dere (there)."

The devil decides to really put the Cajuns through the mill. He puts them in a sealed off cave in the pit with open blazes and four extra furnaces blasting. When he comes back a few days later, the Cajuns are sitting pretty and have barely begun to sweat. Naturally, the devil is outraged and roars, "How is this possible!? You should be melted to a shrieking puddle in these conditions!"

Boo laughs even harder than before. "Hey, I done tole you -- I was raised in Sout Looziana. You tink dis is heat?! Dis ain't nothin' but August in Cow Island!"

The devil fumes. He thinks, "Alright, a little reverse ought to do the trick," and puts the hated Cajuns into a corner of hell where no heat ever reached. It is beyond freezing. And to add to Boo & Thib's misery, he throws in massive icebergs and blasting frozen air. When he returns, the Cajuns are shivering, ice hanging from every part of them, but they are still grinning like it's Christmas.

Exasperated, the devil asks, "HOW!? How is it possible?! You're impervious to heat and here you sit in conditions you can't be used to...freezing cold, and yet you're happier than if you were in heaven. WHY?!"

The Cajuns keep grinning and after slapping each other on the back, ask, "Don't dis mean da Saints won da Super Bowl?"

Now, say it "wit" me~~~ WHO DAT?!

Three-fer {Friday Foibles, Boo & Thib, Politically Incorrect Joke}

It's a rare day when I come across a joke that can be transformed into something that fits our Cajun bad boys Boudreaux & Thibodaux, shows the foibles humans are capable of performing, AND may be offensive to several different groups of folks at once. *grin* (Apologies in advance. It's just a joke...go ahead and laugh!)

Well, today's your lucky day if you like a bargain. Here's a three-fer to get your weekend started...

@@@

Back when Boudreaux was a young stud, he decides to hop a plane to visit some transplanted Cajun friends in California. The plane passes through a severe storm. The turbulence jostles Boo's carry-on full of hot sauce, coffee, pralines and other homegrown goodies he is toting to his pals. Things go from bad to worse when one wing is struck by a fierce bolt of lightning.

A woman passenger seated near Boudreaux loses it completely, stands and screams, "I'm too young to die!" Then she yells, "If I'm going to die, I want my last minutes on earth to be memorable! Is there anyone on this plane who can make me feel like a woman?"

There is momentary silence while everyone stares at the crazed and desperate woman. Then Boudreaux stands up. He is tall, handsome and built like a rock. His dark brown hair grazes his strong shoulders and his hazel eyes twinkle. Boo takes off his seatbelt and walks up the aisle toward the woman passenger, easily balancing as the plane sways and bucks. He slowly unbuttons his shirt and locks eyes with the now-silent woman. The other passengers are mesmerized and stare on, suddenly forgetting the dangerous conditions of their flight.

When Boo gets to the last shirt button, he yanks off his shirt and his muscles ripple. The woman (and several others nearby) gasp. In a lovely Cajun accent, he slowly speaks.............................

......"Mais sha, iron dis (this)....den (then) get me a beer!"

Boudreaux & Thibodaux at the Barber Shop

Hey y'all. Guess what? We got SNEAUX here in Baton Rouge Friday night while I was at my parents' house. Some of it stuck around til yesterday even. (Check out the big lush green plants beneath the white roof in the last photo.)

Global Warming you say? How can that be when the Deep South got a hefty sprinkling of the white stuff two years running? Have a look~~~

@@@

And now for the newest adventure with our wild Cajun bon amis, Boo & Thib:

Just in time for the holidays, Boudreaux goes over to Thibodeaux's barbershop for a shave and to get himself spruced up. While Thibodeaux lathers up his friend, Boudreaux mentions a problem he's been having.

"Thib, ya know what? I been havin' real trouble gittin' a close shave 'round mah (my) cheek area, me. Even got me one'a dem (them) new fancy electric shavers, and it don't help none, no."

Thibodeaux says, "Mais, I got just da ting (thing) for dat (that)," and takes out a small wooden ball from a nearby drawer. "Just place dis between your cheek and gum, and you won't have no stubble left, no."

Boo puts the ball in his mouth, and Thibodeaux gives his best pal the closest shave he's ever experienced.

Right as Thibodaux finishes the last stroke, Boudreaux manages to say, "Hey Thib, I got a question to ax (ask) ya. What happens if I swallow dis ball??"

Thib laughs. "No problem. Juss (Just) do like everybody else and bring it back tomorrow!"

Boudreaux & Thibodaux - Marital Bliss

Just popping in to say one thing ~~~ GO SAINTS! If you're not watching the NY Giants vs. the NO Saints in the Dome, you're missing it! "...and the South shall rise again!" LOL

@@@

Boudreaux, dat bad Cajun husband, was walking down the wharf to go meet up with his friend Thibodaux.

Boo spots Thib and says, "Hey podnuh, how ya'll are?"

Thibodaux says, "Mais, tings is goin' ok."

Boo gets his fishing gear arranged, pops open a cold one and says, "I got a question to axe ya. How's ya wife been?"

"Mais, Boo, mah wife Clotilde, she's an angel, yeah."

Boo baits his hook and throws his line out. "Mais, you one luck sonnamagun, you. Mah wife, she's still living!"

Boudreaux & Thibodaux at Tiger Stadium

Before we trot out those bad Cajun boys Boo & Thib, there's an opportunity afoot for you to win chocolate at a Season's of My Mind -- a new blogger's place HERE. All ya gotta do is leave a comment and become a follower. Good luck! Hope somebody I know wins that delicious 1-pound box of See's!

@@@

Thibodaux had 50-yard line tickets for dat #4 El-Ess-Shoe (LSU) vs. #1 Florida football game at Tiger Stadium last night. He sits down in his seat, and a man comes down and asks if anyone is sitting in the seat next to him.

Thib quits waving his big purple and gold foam hand and Tiger Bait banner long enough to say, "'Mais, no. Dat seat be empty, yeah. Dat is, unless you one'a dem Florida fans!" He laughs at his own joke and slaps the man on the back.

"This is incredible," the man says. "Who in their right mind would have a seat like this for a game this big, with these mighty SEC teams playing each other, and then not use it? I mean, the tickets to this game are going for huge amounts!"

Thibodaux smiles a little sadly and says, "Oh, dat seat belong to me, yah. I was comin' wit mah wife Marie, but she done passed on. Dis is da first LSU football game we didn't came wit each udder since we got married way back a long time ago."

"Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that," the man says. "That's terrible. But you couldn't find anybody else -- a friend or relative or neighbor -- to take the seat and come enjoy the game with you?"

Thibodaux shakes his head sadly. Right then, the Tigers run about 80 yards for a score, and Thib goes wild with the rest of the crowd in Death Valley {nickname of Tiger Stadium} screaming and celebrating.

Then he remembers the man's question and says, "Well, I guess I coulda got me one of dem peoples to come to dis game, yeah...but dey all at da funeral!"
