Hodge Podge

Like a typical day of my life, today's post is just a jumble of several dissimilar elements. If nothing else, things are never boring at Chez Gumbo Writer's, eh?

First off, our friend kimmi [Kim Richardson] had a great book review published yesterday. To learn more about her story, check out this interesting look at The Unbreakable Child.

Okay, second, I know you're tired of me begging for blog votes, so just consider this a reminder. *grin* Hit that thumbs up icon in my sidebar. We were less than 50 votes away from the first place contender last night! Thanks for the continued lever-pulling. I 'preciate you!

Finally, since I'm a hardcore dog lover, I want to share this pet owner's tragic story and warning with you. Please pass it on ~~

If you are an owner of a dog, especially one that is considered a "dangerous-breed," and small children visit your home, please take this warning seriously. Don't ever leave your dog with the child unattended under any circumstances!

Only a little moment was enough for the following to happen. (See the photo below.)

*guffaw!* You really had me worried, and I thought maybe something happened with your little guy. Such a great picture!

Oh, I am so woefully behind - just scrolled down and saw your tootsies *laughing*.....

How is little butter buns?....

Miss visiting- am trying to do that some this morning... :)

Well now. That is one fine looking dog!
Wasn't Kimmi's book write-up great? I can't wait to read it.

LOL! You are going to win this blog thing!!! How are you hanging in there with all you do alone?

Congrats to Kimmi.
Good point about pets. Many don't realize that sibling rivalries can arise between pets and new babies as well. Only it can be a lot more dangerous.

Doggie graffiti--love it:-)

The dog photo made me laugh! My grand-daughter lives with her pit bull and that's exactly what her dog would do....just lay there and let someone write on her! Good things she's a chocolate pit.

Thanks, Donna!

Picture/warning made me laugh too, Janna. Glad my dad forwarded it to me. Love your new vlog! Thanks for voting. :)

Kat, butter buns Bandit has been a real good boy lately...especially when I'm here to play with him for a few hours, then he doesn't tear things up. (His third new bed has actually lasted overnight!)

Me and you both, Debbie. We'll be able to say about Kim and Kat..."I knew them way back when..."

Thank you, Terri! You know how it is -- a woman's gotta do what a woman's gotta do. (Gratitude and blessing-counting helps.)

So true, Nan. (PS Send me the biz specs so I can post 'em!!)

LOL, Becca.

Karen, those scare me, but glad granddaughter has a good, mild mannered one. :)

Oh, I was almost ascarred to peek at doggie pic. Lol! SaWheeet!

Thanks for the linky love, Angie. Kindly appreciated.

I've been pulling that voting lever every day. hugs

I'm surprised that hasn't happened to our dog yet! I've got some little munchkins who would do the same if given half a chance!

Suldog said...

Thank God. I thought it was going to be some hideous story about a child being ripped up (although, after seeing the photo, the dog couldn't rightly be blamed!)

Angie Ledbetter said...

Embee, it was a goody, huh?

You're so welcome, Kimmi, and thanks for the votes.

Jody, hide the markers!

LOL, Suldog.

What a long-suffering expression that dog is wearing. Can't you just hear what's going on in her head? ;>)

Debra Lynn Shelton said...

See, Angie - just more proof that cats are WAY smarter than dogs. Could you imagine a kitty sitting around letting a child draw on her/him? I think not. And, kudos to Kimmi! I wish her enormous success with The Unbreakable Child!

Amy Sue Nathan said...

Thumbs up for you, m'dear. And gotta love a creative kid and a patient dog!!!

Angie Ledbetter said...

Sandra, he's yawning and happy his little master is playing with him...probably feels good too. :)

Um, Schube, the CAT would be writing on the kid if it could hold a marker! ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

LOL, yeah, Amy. Arf!

OH. That picture is HILARIOUS. Love it!

Makes me smile when I look at it, Melissa and jill. :)

Whew - you had me going there for a second. I should have known that you wouldn't put up a horrific photo. Very cute and sneaky for a Thursday!

Jessica Nelson said...

OH my gosh! YOu scared me so BAD! I couldn't believe you were going to post a pic of a mauled child.
I'm both relieved and chuckling now.

L.C. Gant said...

LOL! You had me going with that setup, ma'am. I really thought you were going to show some poor injured baby. What a relief!

Actually, I think that's a good look for the dog. Hey, he seemed to like it... He stayed still during the artwork, didn't he?

Angie Ledbetter said...

JyLnC & Jessica, I know I'm bad, but I had to pass it on. LOL

I agree, L.C. -- Mr. smart dawg was getting a little mini-massage. Probably hypnotic, and with Junior, this was probably one of their better bonding experiences. :)

Pretty sure I see a halo hovering around that dog's head! Too funny.

Lynnette Labelle said...

Wow! I could totally see my twins doing that. Hope those are washable markers. LOL

Still voting Ang, too bad Marathon's firewall won't allow voting, you would have been in first place for sure!!!
I am not worried, you will still forge ahead for the win!
Love Ya!!

The only thing that could top the picture is if his name is Little Johnny.

LOL, that picture is great! Definitely brought a smile to my face! And I'm also doing my best to get you into 1st place!!

I expected a graphic image.. and in a way it was. Too cute. Off to click that thumb.

Angie Ledbetter said...

Deb S., he's definitely boy's best friend.

Me too, Lynette!

Colby, little kidlet just saw an opportunity to make his widdle puppy wook pertier. :)

Thanks, Laura, and hugs to you, friend.

LOL, Oren. Thought the same thing about the boy being Little Johnny. (Is that regional, or did others grow up on those jokes, I wonder?)

'Preciate you, LN and Hilary!

Ang - I was voting - hitting the button on your page but then it would take me to the website and I didn't realize I had to hit that button too (?) I'm slow, I admit it. I'm just bummed that maybe my votes hadn't been counting. Oh well, I'm hip now *laugh*

Love the dog - such surrender!

Angie Ledbetter said...

LOL, Joy. No worries. I'd have most probably done the same thing. :)

I love that dog pic. I saw your link on my blog a couple of times and I don't remember putting it up so I guess you put it there... but how? I tried playing with the links to post button once and it bit me. Now I'm scared of it. I'm just bimbling along in blog-land and haven't really got a clue what I'm doing so the whole links to post thing is a step beyond my comprehension. How do I do that?
