There's no forecasting or guessing on my part today about what my week ahead is going to be. For right now, I'm in vacationing in a geographic area -- The Smoky Mountains -- where there are actual seasons to focus on instead of the daily weather. It's Autumn and I can see, smell, touch, hear and feel. Ooh, and I hope taste too!
I can't believe it's Sunday already. My time here with Kathryn has flown by on hawk's wings, and I'm sad it's my last full day. I keep thinking, do I really have to go home tomorrow? But I know I do, and it will be good to get back to family and routine...but I'm ahead-of-time wistful to be leaving this magical place of a real friend, real seasons, real conversations, all carved out of a surreal schedule.
To combat the approaching gray clouds of already missing her/here, I'll just have to plan another trip, or one for her to come to Baton Rouge ASAP. In the meantime, I'm forecasting good getaways for my friends too. There's nothing nothing nothing no.thing like getting away from your "real" life and taking time to breath, relax, gain perspective, be.
Have you planned/scheduled your great escape? If so, tell me about it, or your most recent one. Happy trails!

Simple trips for a simple man. State Championships in 3 weeks for our teams, and Christmas Festival of Lights in Natchitoches 2 weeks later. Holidays are here.

Thtat's my usual plan too, Oren, but every now and then, we all need to break out the walls of our existence a roam a little further...but isn't it hard to do when ya have things to do with/for those under our care? Good luck with the championships! I know "your" boys will fly like the wind!
I grew up in the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains, so a piece of my heart is always there among the hollows and streams.
I'm planning for a getaway in two weeks. I look forward to caring for my grandchildren while their parents are away on their own little getaway.
Color is unusually good out there this year. It's making me homesick for New England. Usually our area gets much fewer reds than this year. Honk when you drive by!
Have a safe trip back home. I love the color in this picture!
No trips planned for us for awhile--sticking close to Fla to get some changes in place:)
Oh, I completely hear you about getting away from it all and how there's nothing like it! I had the chance to center myself again, I think, on my vacation, to find out what matters to me most and to figure out what I'm made of!
My husband and I planned a trip last year that fell through but hopefully it will become reality this year. I want to go to Asheville, NC in November when the Biltmore estate has all the Christmas decorations out. I love "mini" trips to the mountains and getting away from work, stress, and getting back to nature. My husband, Brian, and I love to camp and hike. We are planning a lot of mini vacations now that the weather is tolerable here in Alabama.
We just had a mini-escape to Boston, so I guess I'll have to wait until December for the next one. Oh sure, there's Thanksgiving in there, but I don't consider that an escape on any level.
A ski trip is up next. I do not so much love the skiing, but my family does. Still deciding if it's worth another shot, or if I'll be the mom at the bottom of the mountain holding the coats.
Oh my gosh!!! I have really been missin' it! You are in da mountains wit Kat-Mag?!! How beautiful is that?! I was on vacation too...took leave o'senses, but totally back and strokin' my bloggage, "Mommy missed you sooo much!" LOL!! FYI: I don't need to go on a real vacation, I live in a state of vacation!! hahaha Have a blastage!!!
Barbara, hope your vacation is as wonderful as mine was. Please drop by and give a report when you can!
Did ya hear me honk, Tut-tut? :)
Terri, do plan something for yourself, even if it's in the future so you can have something good to look forward to.
It sounds like you got bonus goodies on your trip across the pond, Melissa. So glad for you.
Clapping for you, Ang, with all those little mini escapes coming up. Yay!
Wendy, I'd definitely be in the lodge, by the fire, with a good book waiting for the family to come share their skiing adventures with me. LOL
Yep, I was with Kat-Mag, PW. Sounds like you're enjoying staycations at home in your CO paradise. Huggage
